theta 360 photo review

This is a quick review on the theta s

Below is an embedded 360 photosphere of a hotel I recently stayed in hong kong, mongkok. The quality of the 360 photo is alot better than facebook.

Now for the theta s,

Ease of use:

Very easy. I spent 10 minutes going through the user guide and I am off the ground up and running. In the most basic form of use, simply turn on the device, select video or camera mode and click to start.

Connectivity:

Connects to your mobile phone via wifi, password and ssid located on the camera. You can download the theta s app from the app store which will provide more option as well as remote control.

Quality:

You are not going to get 4k quality image and recording however the quality is still pretty decent as you can see from the example above. Personally, I would recommend the theta s if you are purely after a 360 camera because of it's ease of use, pricing as well as the aesthetic appeal of the device. Holding this device in the air clicking it to take an image is still acceptable. I cannot imagine doing the same with the other baseball looking 360 camera device

Pricing:

At $480 aud, this is definitely a great entry level 360 camera for the casual user.

Memory:

4G is plenty for taking photos however it can only record up to 25 minutes worth of video. Doesn't accept external SD card which is the biggest drawback to this.

Make and Build:

The glass lens is extremely susceptible to scratches and has to be constantly handled with care however the overall build is sturdy and weight heavy enough to be comfortable and light enough to be convenient.
